Module Category: Plant Science / Nursery Management

1. Botanical Profile

The Mango tree, Mangifera indica, is a keystone species of the Anacardiaceae family (the same family as cashews and pistachios). It is a deep-rooted evergreen that can live for over a century.

  • Key Feature: It possesses a massive taproot that can reach up to 6 meters deep, making it a powerful “anchor” for soil stability on the land.
  • Ecological Role: Its dense, umbrella-shaped canopy creates a cooling microclimate, essential for protecting shade-loving herbs or mushroom beds in a “Cottage Garden” system.
